La ceremonia se realizará a las 10:30 a.m. en el jirón Inca 434-440. La institución destacó que esta ampliación permitirá mejorar la capacidad de acogida y los servicios que brinda a niños y adolescentes de escasos recursos.

Desde hace 14 años, Magia trabaja para que ningún niño se quede sin tratamiento por falta de recursos económicos. Su apoyo no solo contempla la compra de medicamentos, prótesis e insumos médicos, sino también asistencia psicológica y social para las familias.

Christian Ames, gerente general de la organización, explicó que la filosofía de la institución se resume en la frase: “El cáncer se cura 50 % con medicinas y 50 % con amor”.

La asociación coordina con los principales centros oncológicos pediátricos del país, como el Instituto Nacional de Enfermedades Neoplásicas (INEN) y el Instituto Nacional de Salud del Niño, entre otros hospitales especializados.

En el 2016, Magia inauguró “Casa Magia”, un albergue que acoge a menores provenientes de distintas regiones del país. Además de cubrir pasajes aéreos o terrestres, la institución ofrece alojamiento, alimentación, traslados seguros al hospital, talleres y actividades recreativas.

“El objetivo es brindar un ambiente cálido y seguro que contribuya a la recuperación de los niños y a la tranquilidad de sus familias”, señaló Ames.

En el Perú, se estima que al menos 1.930 niñas, niños y adolescentes son diagnosticados con cáncer cada año, siendo la leucemia el tipo más frecuente. Aunque el Ministerio de Salud ha logrado reducir la tasa de abandono del tratamiento del 18,6 % al 8,5 %, esta cifra sigue siendo elevada, principalmente por factores socioeconómicos.

En ese contexto, la ampliación de “Casa Magia” busca reforzar la red de apoyo para las familias y contribuir a que más menores completen sus tratamientos.
