La presidenta de México, Claudia Sheinbaum, reveló este miércoles que sostuvo una llamada telefónica con el presidente de Estados Unidos, Donald Trump, tras el operativo en Jalisco en el que murió Nemesio Oseguera, alias El Mencho, líder del Cartel Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG) el pasado 22 de febrero y que provocó una ola de violencia en gran parte del país.

“Fue una llamada de ocho minutos para preguntarme qué pasa en México, cómo están las cosas (…) fue así la llamada corta y para ver cómo estaban las cosas en México”, afirmó durante su conferencia de prensa matutina la mandataria, quien indicó que la conversación tuvo lugar el lunes, unas horas después de la operación contra el narcotraficante mexicano en Jalisco (oeste).

Sheinbaum dijo que durante la llamada le explicó a Trump detalles de las acciones que se realizaron en México para atrapar al capo.

“Le platiqué cómo había sido el operativo, que habíamos tenido ayuda en inteligencia por parte del Gobierno de los Estados Unidos, que iba muy bien la coordinación”, manifestó.

Las declaraciones de Sheinbaum ocurren luego de que el mandatario estadounidense destacara, durante su discurso sobre el Estado de la Unión, que los servicios de inteligencia estadounidenses desempeñaron un papel decisivo para que fuerzas mexicanas localizaran a El Mencho en un complejo de cabañas en el pequeño pueblo de Tapalpa, ubicado en el sur de Jalisco.

Sin embargo, la presidenta mexicana reiteró que la participación estadounidense se limitó al intercambio de información.

“Ya hemos explicado cuál fue la colaboración, que fue esencialmente en inteligencia, información y toda la operación pues la desarrolló la Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional, como informamos adecuadamente aquí”, indicó.

Asimismo, descartó por el momento alguna reunión con el mandatario estadounidense.

Por otra parte, refirió que el martes el embajador de Estados Unidos en México, Ronald Johnson, se reunió con el Gabinete de Seguridad en el Palacio Nacional, un encuentro de carácter protocolario tras el operativo contra El Mencho.

“Hasta hoy en la mañana me informaron el resultado de la reunión. Me hablaron ayer (los funcionarios mexicanos), me dijeron: ‘Todo salió bien, no hubo problema, fue más bien protocolaria’ (…) ya me dijeron que hubo felicitación y fue una buena reunión, digamos, de comunicación”, explicó.

La reunión ocurrió en el contexto de la cooperación bilateral en seguridad, particularmente tras el operativo realizado el pasado 22 de febrero, en el que Oseguera Cervantes murió.

El Mencho, de 59 años, era uno de los criminales más buscados por las autoridades mexicanas y estadounidenses, con una recompensa millonaria por información que condujera a su captura.

Washington lo acusaba de encabezar un “reinado de terror” en México y de destruir “innumerables vidas” con el tráfico de fentanilo, y ofrecía hasta 15 millones de dólares por información que condujera a su arresto o condena.

Bajo su mando, el CJNG expandió su presencia en México y fortaleció rutas de tráfico de droga, incluido el fentanilo hacia Estados Unidos, lo que lo colocó entre los narcotraficantes más buscados por ambos países.
