El presidente de la República, José María Balcázar Zelada, y la ministra de Economía y Finanzas, Denisse Miralles, sostuvieron una reunión con los titulares del Jurado Nacional de Elecciones, la Oficina Nacional de Procesos Electorales y el Registro Nacional de Identificación y Estado Civil para evaluar la asignación de recursos adicionales destinados al proceso electoral 2026.

Según lo informado, la ONPE ha solicitado S/ 588 millones adicionales y el JNE S/ 114 millones con el objetivo de asegurar el desarrollo de las elecciones generales programadas para el 12 de abril de 2026.

En dichos comicios se elegirá al presidente de la República, a 60 senadores, 130 diputados y a los representantes peruanos ante el Parlamento Andino. La reunión se enmarca en las coordinaciones entre el Ejecutivo y el sistema electoral para garantizar el financiamiento y la organización técnica del proceso.

Cabe recordar que Balcázar asumió la Presidencia el pasado 18 de febrero, tras la censura de José Jerí y su designación como titular de la Mesa Directiva del Congreso.

En su mensaje ante el Parlamento, el mandatario aseguró que trabajará para garantizar elecciones “pacíficas y transparentes”, además de mantener los lineamientos económicos y reforzar la lucha contra la inseguridad ciudadana.
