La situación se produce luego de que el Ministerio de Energía y Minas emitiera una resolución que restringe la venta de GNV a vehículos menores, incluidos autos particulares y taxis. La medida se adoptó tras una fuga de gas y una llamarada registradas en el sistema de transporte por ductos en el distrito de Megantoni, en Cusco.

De acuerdo con la disposición oficial, el suministro disponible será destinado prioritariamente a consumidores residenciales, comercios y al transporte público masivo que opera exclusivamente con GNV. En esa lista no figuran taxis, vehículos particulares, unidades de carga ni mototaxis.

Alfaro explicó que, aunque algunas estaciones aún cuentan con reservas, la interrupción del flujo ha generado una alta demanda y el rápido agotamiento del stock en varios grifos. Por ello, insistió en que el abastecimiento doméstico está garantizado y que no se prevén cortes en los hogares.

Frente a la posibilidad de que se registren incrementos en los precios, el ministro advirtió que no existe justificación para alzas. “No hay ningún motivo para incrementar el precio, porque a ellos no se le va a vender o reponer el gas a un precio superior”, afirmó, al tiempo que pidió denunciar cualquier cobro indebido ante las autoridades competentes.

El titular del Minem añadió que, si el problema se prolonga o resulta más grave de lo previsto, el Gobierno evalúa alternativas adicionales para reforzar el suministro, entre ellas la contratación de un buque con gas que pueda descargar en el Callao en el menor tiempo posible.
