Dos tercios ya estaban congelados antes de esa detención, en el marco de procedimientos penales en Suiza, pero tras la captura de Maduro se han bloqueado 239 millones de francos adicionales (308 millones de dólares).

El 5 de enero las autoridades suizas ordenaron la congelación de los activos de Nicolás Maduro y sus asociados en el país, aunque los congelados con anterioridad también pertenecían al entorno del líder chavista, aclaró ATS.

El bloqueo a principios de año se ordenó como “medida de precaución” y ante la “volátil situación” creada tras el arresto del mandatario venezolano el día 3.

Según las autoridades suizas, ningún miembro del Gobierno actual de Venezuela está afectado por esta congelación de activos.

Si se demuestra que los activos fueron adquiridos de forma ilícita, Suiza planea restituirlos en beneficio de la población venezolana, según aseguró en enero el Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores del país europeo.

La ley federal suiza contempla la congelación de activos de extranjeros “políticamente expuestos” cuando hay razones para asumir que fueron adquiridos mediante corrupción, una gestión delictiva u otros delitos graves.
