La autoridad regional explicó ante el grupo de trabajo parlamentario que las áreas agrícolas perjudicadas se ubican principalmente en zonas cercanas a las riberas de los ríos, donde el desborde y la saturación de los suelos han impactado la producción agrícola.

Según precisó, entre los cultivos más afectados figuran el banano, el arroz y productos de pan llevar, cuya producción se ha visto comprometida debido a la acumulación de agua y el deterioro de los terrenos agrícolas.

Palacios también señaló que, tras las evaluaciones realizadas en la zona, se han identificado 34 puntos críticos a lo largo del río Tumbes que requieren intervención provisional urgente para evitar mayores afectaciones en caso continúen las precipitaciones.

En ese contexto, indicó que para atender la emergencia y ejecutar trabajos de protección en los sectores vulnerables se requeriría una inversión aproximada de 127 millones de soles.

La gobernadora regional encargada advirtió que las lluvias generan afectaciones recurrentes cada año en la región, por lo que consideró necesario avanzar en la ejecución de proyectos de infraestructura que permitan reducir el impacto de estos fenómenos.

En esa línea, solicitó que el Ministerio de Economía y Finanzas (MEF) priorice la transferencia de recursos que permitan a la Autoridad Nacional de Infraestructura (ANIN) ejecutar el proyecto de defensas ribereñas en el río Tumbes.

La autoridad sostuvo que la construcción de estas obras permitiría proteger a la población y a los agricultores de la región frente a los desbordes que se registran durante la temporada de lluvias.

“Se necesita que se concreten los proyectos de defensas ribereñas y la presa de laminación, para no volver a estar en esta situación, con estas obras definitivas la población y nuestros agricultores estarán más protegidos”, afirmó.
