En una llamada con líderes europeos el lunes, Aoun aseguró que la escalada entre Israel e Hezbolá fue “una trampa” contra el Gobierno libanés y sus fuerzas armadas a fin de perpetrar una invasión israelí del país.

“Esto pretende obligar al Líbano a elegir entre dos opciones: entrar en enfrentamiento directo con la agresión israelí (…) o bien abstenerse de dicho enfrentamiento, permitiendo que el mismo grupo armado pueda lanzar una campaña populista con el pretexto de la incapacidad del Estado para proteger a su gente”, agregó Aoun.
