El siniestro, que se registró la tarde del lunes en el cruce de los jirones Junín y Cangallo, aún no ha sido controlado por los bomberos. Debido a la magnitud del fuego, se han desplegado más de 40 unidades y se ha reportado que cinco bomberos resultaron afectados por golpes y caídas durante las labores de emergencia. Además, el humo tóxico se ha extendido a distritos como el Rímac y San Juan de Lurigancho, según el Senamhi.
Casaretto precisó que el local había sido sancionado previamente. “ Este local está multado. Aun así, persiste en querer tener la mayor cantidad de mercadería cerca al lugar de su venta”, afirmó. Asimismo, denunció que los comerciantes buscan utilizar viviendas como depósitos clandestinos, lo que impide una fiscalización efectiva.
“ Es un depósito clandestino de juguetes en la azotea de este edificio que no cuenta con certificado de Defensa Civil ni licencia de funcionamiento. Andamos denunciando el abuso que tiene el comerciante en buscar este tipo de viviendas que no pueden ser fiscalizadas porque los domicilios son inviolables. Crean una estructura de drywall y ahí hacen estos almacenes clandestinos que terminan en estas consecuencias que todos conocemos”, advirtió Casaretto.
El vocero de la Municipalidad Metropolitana de Lima, Mario Casaretto, confirmó que el edificio afectado por el incendio en el Cercado de Lima funcionaba como un depósito clandestino de juguetes y operaba sin certificado de Defensa Civil ni licencia de funcionamiento.
Actualmente hay 50 familias afectadas y obligadas a abandonar sus hogares.
Continúan los trabajos para apagar el incendio en la cuadra 4 del jirón Cangallo en el Cercado de Lima.
El comandante general del Cuerpo de Bomberos, Juan Carlos Morales, explicó que el siniestro se originó en el sexto piso de un edificio de seis niveles, donde se almacenaban de manera ilegal juguetes y plásticos.
Actualmente, 49 unidades del Cuerpo General de Bomberos Voluntarios del Perú trabajan en la zona para intentar sofocar el incendio, aunque las labores se ven dificultadas por la cantidad de material inflamable dentro del edificio.
Las llamas han alcanzado viviendas cercanas, lo que obligó a los bomberos a evacuar a los vecinos. Muchos de ellos retiraron sus pertenencias ante el temor de que el fuego continúe avanzando.
De acuerdo con el Ministerio de Salud (Minsa), al menos 17 personas han resultado afectadas por inhalación de humo. Para atender la emergencia, el Servicio de Atención Móvil de Urgencia (SAMU) desplegó dos ambulancias con personal médico, mientras que el Centro de Operaciones de Emergencia en Salud (COES Salud) mantiene el monitoreo del caso.
El incendio de gran magnitud que se desató la tarde de este lunes en un depósito clandestino de juguetes, ubicado en la cuadra 10 del jirón Cangallo, Cercado de Lima, sigue sin ser controlado. El siniestro, que inicialmente fue clasificado como código 3, ha escalado a código 5 debido a su intensidad y el riesgo de propagación a inmuebles aledaños.
