Según explicó ante la prensa, el pedido se enmarca en el protocolo ya aplicado en otras diligencias del proceso, como la audiencia de prisión preventiva. “Desde un comienzo he solicitado que se permita, en este caso, el protocolo de manera virtual por un tema logístico, es normal. Riera sostuvo además que existen amenazas contra la vida de Linares y que estas han sido comunicadas a la Fiscalía por el conducto regular, lo que —a su juicio— constituye un motivo razonable para que la diligencia se lleve a cabo de forma remota.

“Hay que dejar en claro que la señorita Marisel Linares no ha cometido ningún delito, no ha encubierto a ninguna persona. Declarará en función a los actos por los cuales está siendo convocada y, en efecto, existen amenazas contra su vida, lo cual genera un motivo suficiente y razonable para pedir que sea virtual”, afirmó.

El letrado indicó que también ha solicitado copia del expediente fiscal, al igual que las demás defensas, a fin de contar con todos los elementos necesarios para brindar una declaración adecuada. “Es importante tomar en cuenta todos los elementos para poder realizar una correcta declaración”, añadió.

Asimismo, aseguró que todas las pruebas han sido presentadas formalmente y reiteró que su patrocinada colaborará con la investigación. “Quiere declarar y va a declarar toda la verdad con respecto a los hechos por los cuales está siendo investigada”, sostuvo.

En otro momento, Riera señaló que, si bien —según indicó— Linares no es propietaria del vehículo involucrado, ello estaría establecido en un contrato suscrito por las partes. No obstante, precisó que la periodista ha decidido acceder a la reparación civil ordenada por el juez encargado del caso.

“Ha decidido, en comunión de esfuerzos y también en conjunto con la defensa, acceder en este caso a la reparación civil, a la responsabilidad civil en la medida que se ha ordenado por el juez”, manifestó, al señalar que esta decisión busca coadyuvar y aminorar el dolor de la familia afectada.
