El Gobierno del presidente Donald Trump confirmó este domingo que Estados Unidos brindó apoyo de inteligencia al gobierno mexicano para desarrollar el operativo en el que se dio de baja a Rubén Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, alias El Mencho, líder del Cartel Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG).

El Gobierno del presidente Donald Trump confirmó este domingo que Estados Unidos brindó apoyo de inteligencia al gobierno mexicano para desarrollar el operativo en el que se dio de baja a Rubén Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, alias El Mencho, líder del Cartel Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG).

La vocera de la Casa Blanca, Karoline Leavitt, corroboró en un mensaje en su cuenta de X que el gobierno estadounidense ayudó en la redada en la que terminó abatido el Mencho en Talpalpa, una ciudad del estado mexicano de Jalisco.

“El Mencho era un objetivo prioritario para los gobiernos de México y Estados Unidos, ya que era uno de los principales traficantes de fentanilo a nuestro país”, agregó Leavitt sobre el líder abatido.

Según los datos compartidos por la Casa Blanca, tres miembros más del cartel fueron abatidos, tres resultaron heridos y dos fueron arrestados.

Un funcionario de defensa estadounidense había adelantado al Washington Post que la Fuerza de Tarea Interinstitucional Conjunta Anticartel (JIATF-CC), una unidad de inteligencia recién conformada bajo la supervisión del Comando Norte de Estados Unidos, había sido clave para el operativo en el que murió el líder la CJNG.

Oseguera Cervantes, de 56 años, era uno de los delincuentes más buscados por autoridades mexicanas y estadounidenses, que habían anunciado una recompensa de 15 millones de dólares por información que condujera a su captura.

“El presidente Trump ha sido muy claro: Estados Unidos se asegurará de que los narcoterroristas que envían drogas letales a nuestro país se vean obligados a enfrentar la justicia que merecen desde hace mucho tiempo”, recalcó la vocera en su mensaje.

Además, Leavitt dijo que la Casa Blanca “elogia y agradece” al ejército mexicano por su cooperación y la exitosa ejecución de este operativo.

Estados Unidos acusaba a Oseguera Cervantes de encabezar un “reinado de terror” en México y de destruir “innumerables vidas” con el tráfico de fentanilo.
