La víctima fue identificada como el suboficial Michael Ramírez León, de 30 años, quien se desempeñaba como agente del Departamento de Investigación Criminal (Depincri) del Callao.

De acuerdo con testimonios recogidos en la zona, el policía llegó a su domicilio luego de culminar su jornada laboral. Tras ingresar a su vivienda, salió minutos después para desechar la basura. Fue en ese momento cuando dos sujetos que transitaban a pie lo interceptaron en plena vía pública y abrieron fuego contra él.

Según relataron los testigos, los atacantes realizaron más de ocho disparos contra el suboficial, provocándole la muerte de manera inmediata antes de que pudiera recibir auxilio.

El ataque ocurrió frente a la vivienda del agente, generando alarma entre los vecinos del sector, quienes alertaron a las autoridades tras escuchar las detonaciones.

Hasta el lugar llegaron peritos de criminalística de la Policía Nacional para acordonar la zona y realizar las diligencias correspondientes, entre ellas la recolección de evidencias y el levantamiento del cuerpo.

Asimismo, personal policial inició las investigaciones para identificar a los responsables del crimen y determinar el móvil del ataque.

Familiares del suboficial Ramírez León se encontraban en el lugar, aunque evitaron brindar declaraciones a la prensa durante las primeras horas posteriores al homicidio.
